Choosing lights and light fittings for larger rooms and rooms with high ceilings can often be challenging. Whilst rooms with high ceilings add a sense of space and airiness it can be difficult to find the right lighting.
We have a selection of light fixtures which work well in spaces with high ceilings, double-height areas, barn conversions and church lighting and of course vaulted ceilings with exposed roofing trusses. If you have a curved, helical or even a staircase with a half landing or a gallery, you can make the most of long drop light fixtures to make an impression on the space and compliment the design.
Fixtures for double-height ceilings tend to be larger or longer and are typically suspended by finely braided cables or flex to the ceiling.
Any suggestions to help me choose a fitting for my double-height ceiling?
Consider a chandelier or large globe light which will direct light both up and down, these are an obvious choice for lighting high ceilings. Crystal droplets, prisms and beads will reflect light, the Waterfall from Searchlight would look well, as will fittings with a polished metal finish. One or more clusters of pendant lights work well in contemporary settings and open plan living areas used for multiple activities.
Can I use a large light fitting elsewhere in my home?
Extra-large light fittings can look effective even in smaller rooms if, for instance, they are hung lower over a dining room table. You could be really decadent and go for a crystal chandelier or a mid-century modern chandelier.
