What are decorative filament bulbs?

They're bulbs with visible LED filaments arranged to mimic the look of old Edison and carbon-filament bulbs. Instead of hiding the light source, the design puts it on show, with warm, glowing lines of light inside clear or tinted glass. That's why they suit fittings where the bulb is left exposed rather than covered by a shade.

Are LED filament bulbs efficient?

Yes. An LED filament bulb gives the same warm vintage glow as an old filament bulb, but on a fraction of the energy and with a far longer life. So you get the retro look without the high running costs or the constant bulb changing that came with the originals.

Warm glow and dimmable?

Decorative bulbs are usually very warm, often around 2000 to 2200K, for a cosy amber glow rather than bright white light. Many are dimmable, which suits their relaxed, atmospheric style, so check the bulb is marked dimmable and pair it with a compatible LED dimmer. They come in E27, E14 and B22 fittings, so check your socket before you buy.
