Do you have plug-in, battery or rechargeable wall lights?

Yes, and they're one of the easiest ways to add a wall light without an electrician. Plug-in wall lights fix to the wall but run from a nearby socket, so there's no hardwiring, just mount, plug in and switch on. Battery-operated and rechargeable wall lights go a step further with no cable at all: you charge them up, stick or screw them anywhere, and top them up when they run low. They're ideal for rented homes, alcoves and awkward spots where there's no wiring.

How high should wall lights be mounted?

As a general rule, mount wall lights around 1.5 to 1.7m from the floor, roughly eye level, so they light the room rather than shining in your eyes. Beside a bed, a little lower works better for reading. In a hallway, space them evenly, about every 2.5 to 3m, for a smooth run of light.
