What is a cord set?

A cord set, sometimes called a suspension kit or pendant flex, is made up of three parts: a ceiling rose that fixes to the ceiling, a length of cable or fabric flex, and a lampholder at the end for the bulb. Together they give you a complete hanging pendant, ready to wire in and drop a bulb into.

What can I use a cord set for?

They're perfect for a stripped-back, modern look. Hang a single cord with a bare bulb over a bedside, a table or a kitchen island, or group several at different heights for a cluster effect. Because the bulb is on show, cord sets go hand in hand with vintage and filament bulbs, where the glowing filament becomes the feature.

Which lampholder and bulb do I need?

Most cord sets take an E27 or E14 lampholder, so check which the set uses and match your bulb to it. For the classic bare-pendant look, pair the cord set with a decorative filament bulb; for a shaded look, add an easy-fit shade instead. As with any wired fitting, have a qualified electrician install it.
