What are LED’s?
LED stands for light-emitting diode. LED lighting products produce light up to 90% more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs.
How do they work?
An electrical current pass through a microchip, which illuminates the tiny light sources called LEDs and the result is visible light. To prevent performance issues, the heat LEDs produce is absorbed into a heat sink which dissipate it into the surrounding environment. This keeps LEDs from overheating and burning out. LED lighting is revolutionary not only because of its energy efficiency but also its impressively long service life. LED lighting is both economical and, of course, environmentally friendly.
What does "Integrated LED" mean?
Integrated LED lights have the LEDs built into the fixture itself. Whether on a panel, strip or disc, the diodes are installed into the fixture, hence no light bulb needed.
Are there any downsides to buying integrated LED fittings?
Unlike traditional bulbs which can easily be detached from their fixtures, integrated LED bulbs are built into multiple electrical circuit boards. This means that if a bulb blows, it cannot easily be replaced, the whole integrated fixture must be replaced. This may seem extreme but LED fittings usually come with a manufactures warranty for five years.
